Flood Warning

... Flood Warning extended until this evening...
the Flood Warning continues for
the Opequon creek near Martinsburg.
* Until this evening.
* At 4 am Sunday the stage was 12.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Recent activity... the maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at
4 am Sunday was 12.5 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
late this afternoon.
* Impact... at 12.5 feet... the creek is well out of its banks with
lowlands nearby flooded. Golf course Road /County Road 36/ is
flooded near the Van Metre Ford pedestrian bridge. Fields and
backyards near the creek are flooded and some residents may need to
move items to higher ground. Several other roads are flooded,
including Grapevine Road, Douglas Grove Road, and Paynes Ford Road.
Backwater flooding is occurring on small tributaries, including
Tuscarora creek.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 11.2 feet
on may 6 2017.

... Flood Warning extended until this afternoon...
the Flood Warning continues for
the Shenandoah River at Millville.
* Until this afternoon.
* At 3 am Sunday the stage was 10.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Recent activity... the maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at
3 am Sunday was 10.4 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
late this morning.
* Impact... at 10.0 feet... parts of Bloomery Road and John rissler
Road are flooded near Bloomery, West Virginia. Once these roads
flood, access to homes is impaired but the homes themselves are not
in any danger of flooding. Moulton park and the Millville boat
launch are also flooded.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 10.6 feet
on may 27 2017.

the Flood Warning continues for
the Potomac River at Shepherdstown.
* Until Monday morning.
* At 3 am Sunday the stage was 17.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Recent activity... the maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at
3 am Sunday was 17.4 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 17.6 feet this
morning. The river will fall below flood stage overnight tonight.
* Impact... at 19.0 feet... water covers the pedestrian bridge adjacent
to the Shepherdstown boat ramp. Significant portions of the c&o
canal towpath are flooded.
