Flood Warning, Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 12:31 PM PDT May. 23, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Okanogan river near Tonasket.
* Until further notice.
* At 12:15 PM Wednesday the stage was 16.55 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.00 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river is expected to continue to rise to near 17.0
feet by late Sunday morning ... then begin falling.
* At 19.0 feet... water may be into homes along the river in and near
Tonasket.
* At 18.0 feet... water will be approaching homes along the river in
and near Tonasket. Major flooding of surrounding cropland is
likely. Some homes and buildings adjacent to the river will
experience some basement and first floor flooding.
* At 17.0 feet... low lying fields and pasture land in the flood plain
along the Okanogan River Valley, from Oroville to Okanogan, will be
flooded. Some homes near the river in Okanogan may experience some
basement flooding from seepage. Water will be between the Railroad
and Highway 97 near Cordell, south of Oroville. Water will be
against The Shoulder of Omak River Road across from wanacut creek.
* At 16.0 feet... pasture land between Rodeo track Road and Benton
street, on the east side of the river near Omak, will begin to
flood.
* At 15.0 feet... minor flooding of low-lying areas is likely between
Oroville and Tonasket.

... A Flood Warning for snowmelt remains in effect until 415 PM PDT
Friday for northeastern Okanogan County...

Water levels are receeding on Osoyoos Lake but water levels remain
high with ongoing flooding. Small rises in the lake level are
possible later this week.

Flooding impacts that can be expected include:

Flooding of Osoyoos Lake veteran's Memorial Park
flooding of low-lying Lake Shore property.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch

* Arroyo and small stream flood advisory for...
west central Douglas County in northeastern Washington...

* until 645 PM PDT

* at 447 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause Arroyo and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. Road
washouts along sections of Highway 2 will be possible between
waterviile and Farmer.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Douglas, Waterville, Alstown, Withrow and Farmer.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

* flood advisory for...
southwestern Okanogan County in northeastern Washington...

* until 615 PM PDT

* at 408 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will bring a potential for minor flooding and
debris flows near the Canyon Creek burn scar and along Texas Creek
toward Highway 155.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hwy 155 near
Carlton.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move away from recently burned areas. Life threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is possible. The heavy rains
could trigger Rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.

The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of north central Washington,
including the following counties, Chelan and Okanogan.

* Until 8 PM PDT this evening

* slow moving scattered thunderstorms capable of producing heavy
rain in a short period of time are developing over the area.
These storms will taper off after sunset this evening.

* Heavy rain will bring the potential for flash flooding and
debris flows on and near recent burn scars.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
