* Flood Warning for
the Ocheyedan river near Everly.
* Until further notice.
* At 08am Thursday the stage was 1364.01 feet.
* Flood stage is 1364.00 feet.
* At stages near 1364 feet... ditches fill, the lowest banks overflow,
and minor flooding of agricultural land begins.

the Flood Warning continues for
the Big Sioux River below Dell Rapids.
* From late tonight to Tuesday afternoon.
* At 08am Thursday the stage was 5.99 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.00 feet.
* Forecast... the river will crest near 14.4 feet by 1 PM Friday.
* At stages near 14.5 feet... 250th street west of Baltic is flooded,
park Road in Dell Rapids is flooded, and some homes and businesses
along 1st Avenue in Dell Rapids are flooded.

the Split Rock creek below Jasper.
* Until further notice.
* At 08am Thursday the stage was 91.11 feet.
* Flood stage is 91.00 feet.
* At stages near 91.0 feet... the lower banks on this stretch of the
creek are overtopped. The low water crossing on 250th street at the
MN/SD state line is flooded.

* At 06am Thursday the stage was 8.90 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.00 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by 10 am Friday and crest near
12.1 feet by Saturday September 22. The river will fall below flood
stage by Saturday September 22.
* At stages near 12.0 feet... some agricultural land between 60th
street north and Interstate 90 begins to flood.

* Flood Warning for
the Split Rock creek near Corson.
* From late tonight to Saturday afternoon.
* At 05am Thursday the stage was 4.68 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 8.50 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by 2 am Friday and crest near
8.8 feet later Friday morning. The river will fall below flood
stage by Friday evening.
* At stages near 9.0 feet... the parking lot at badlands motor
Speedway may be flooded.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 PM CDT this
afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of northwest Iowa, southwest Minnesota, and South
Dakota, including the following areas, in northwest Iowa,
Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay IA, Dickinson, Lyon IA, O'Brien,
Osceola, Plymouth, and Sioux. In southwest Minnesota,
Cottonwood, Jackson, Lincoln MN, Lyon MN, Murray, Nobles,
Pipestone, and rock. In South Dakota, Bon Homme, Brookings,
Charles Mix, Clay SD, Davison, Douglas, Hanson, Hutchinson,
Lake, Lincoln SD, McCook, Miner, Minnehaha, Moody, Turner,
Union, and Yankton.

* Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon

* showers and a few thunderstorms will continue this morning. The
general rainfall will be trending downward. However there will
still be isolated to scattered pockets of heavy rain under the
heavier cells which will produce thunderstorms. Therefore
isolated areas could receive a quick one inch of rain in a brief
amount of time, on top of already saturated ground.

* Reports of County and township roads, and even some state
highways underwater are coming in for locations south of
Interstate 90. Heavy rains can lead to flash flooding, with
water covered roads and urban flooding possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
