The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
eastern Mason County in northern Kentucky...
northern Lewis County in northeastern Kentucky...
southeastern Brown County in southwestern Ohio...
Adams County in south central Ohio...
Hocking County in central Ohio...
Pike County in south central Ohio...
Scioto County in south central Ohio...
eastern Ross County in south central Ohio...

* until 1215 PM EST.

* At 822 am EST, radar indicated that heavy rain had fallen across
the warned area. 1.5 to 3 inches of rain have fallen.
The heavy rainfall has mostly ended across the area. However,
runoff from the earlier excessive rain will cause flooding to
occur.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chillicothe, Portsmouth, Maysville, Logan, Waverly, Nelsonville,
West Union, New Boston, Piketon, Manchester, Peebles, Ripley,
Aberdeen, Vanceburg, Winchester, Seaman, South Webster, Lucasville,
Pike Lake and Kincaid Springs.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

your report via social media, when you can do so safely.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Ohio River at Portsmouth
* until further notice.
* At 7 am the stage was 50.1 feet.
* Flood stage is 50 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* The river will rise to near 52.4 feet by early Monday morning.The
river will then begin falling, but remain above flood stage for the
next 5 days.
* At stages near 53.0 feet, water enters lower levels of homes in South
Portsmouth. Backwater flooding from the Ohio River worsens onto area
creeks, especially along the Ohio Side of the river through Scioto and
Adams counties. Flooding continues through stretches of Route 52.
Much of Portsmouth itself is protected by flood walls.

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southeast Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, including
the following areas, in southeast Indiana, Dearborn, Franklin
in, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland. In Kentucky, Boone,
Bracken, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant, Kenton, Lewis,
Mason, Owen, Pendleton, and Robertson. In Ohio, Adams, Brown,
Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Fairfield, Fayette OH, Hamilton,
Highland, Hocking, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto, and Warren.

* Through Sunday morning

* precipitation this morning has already resulted in 1 to 3 inches
of rain across the area. Additional rounds of rain will move
across the region tonight through Sunday morning. Total rainfall
amounts through Sunday morning are expected to be in the 3 to 5
inch range.


* Excessive rainfall will cause local rivers, creeks, and
streams to rise. Those near streams and rivers should be
especially cautious as streams and rivers can rise quickly.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

People in the watch area, especially those living in areas prone
to flooding, should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop. Monitor the latest forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings.
