Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 2:44 PM PDT Jul. 24, 2017 – National Weather Service

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 415 PM PDT for
northwestern Clark County...

At 242 PM PDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain beginning to end
across the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring and
will continue as runoff flows from the mountains down towards US 95.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Rainbow Canyon, Spring Mountains, Mt. Charleston, Centennial hills,
mahogany Grove campground, Mary Jane Falls campground, Kyle Canyon
campground, Dolomite campground, Fletcher view campground,
McWilliams campground, Willow Creek Campground and Hilltop
Campground as well as US 96, and state highways 158,157, and 156.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 430 PM PDT for
north central San Bernardino... southeastern Inyo and west central
Clark counties...

At 214 PM PDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges continued to
indicate thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the warned area.
Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Spring Mountains Recreation Area, Mountain Pass, Sandy Valley,
and Lovell Canyon campground.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of northwest Arizona and Nevada, including the
following areas, in northwest Arizona, Lake Mead National
Recreation Area and northwest plateau. In Nevada, Lake Mead
National Recreation Area, Las Vegas Valley, Lincoln County,
northeast Clark County, Sheep Range, southern Clark County,
and Spring Mountains-Red Rock Canyon.

* Through Tuesday evening

* any thunderstorm that develops through Tuesday night will be
capable of producing intense rainfall which could lead to flash
flooding in the watch area. Flooding of normally dry washes, low
water crossings, and poorly drained intersections are likely.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If you are in the watch area... you should closely monitor weather
forecasts and be prepared to take immediate action should heavy
rain and flooding occur or a Flash Flood Warning is issued.
