Flood Warning, Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 9:41 PM EDT Sep. 19, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Deep River at Moncure.
* At 8:45 PM Wednesday the stage was 13.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
tomorrow late evening.
* Impact... at 14.0 feet, moderate flood stage. Upstream of the gage
site, north plank Road in Lee County and r Jordan Road in Chatham
County are closed. At the gage site, there is significant flooding
of pasture and Woods along the river.
* Impact... at 9.0 feet, minor flood stage. Flooding is likely upstream
of the gage site along north plank Road just south of Highway 421
in Lee County, and on r Jordan Road north of Highway 421 in Chatham
County. At the gage site, flooding reaches the base of the river
gage housing, but is confined to Woods and pasture immediately
adjacent to the river.

* Flood Warning for...
north central Harnett County in central North Carolina...
Chatham County in central North Carolina...

* until 400 PM EDT Thursday

* at 1113 am EDT, County officials and the public reported multiple
Road closures due to high water.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pittsboro, Siler City, Goldston, Crosswinds boating center,
Crosswinds campground, Harpers Crossroads, Jordan Lake state rec
area, Bynum, Seaforth boat dock and Moncure.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
