... High Wind Warning remains in effect from noon today to 9 PM
MDT this evening...
* winds: west 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.
* Timing: winds will increase across the plains of north central
Montana during the late morning and early afternoon hours today.
These winds will then become strong and gusty during the
afternoon and into the early evening hours.
* Impacts: these strong winds may blow down trees and power lines,
especially in areas where the soil is saturated from recent
snowmelt flooding. Scattered power outages are possible. Travel
will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
* Where flooding is occurring, water levels may rise on the
eastern edges of flood waters due to wave activity. These waves
may then overtop sandbags and or levees.
A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph, or gusts
of 58 mph or more, can lead to property damage.
