Areal Flood Warning, Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 9:20 PM CDT Apr. 30, 2017 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
Shannon County in south central Missouri...
Howell County in south central Missouri...
Oregon County in south central Missouri...

* until 915 PM CDT Monday

* at 919 PM CDT, the Department of Transportation continues to
report many low water crossings still in flood and many Road
closures due to flooding. Doppler radar estimated that between
four to ten inches of rainfall occurred with this storm system.

* Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...
Route h, 3 miles east of Winona...
Highway 142 at the Spring River west of Lanton...
Highway 142 at the Bennetts River West of Moody...
Route k, 3 miles southwest of Pottersville...
and Route h at Rocky Creek 6 miles northeast of Winona.

This Flood Warning replaces the Flash Flood Warning previously in
effect for the warned area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

* at 12:30 am Sunday the stage was 19.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.

* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
tomorrow late morning.

* at 8:30 PM Sunday the stage was 17.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and record flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 18.0 feet by
around midnight.
* Impact... at 18.0 feet... flood waters impact State Highway 106 near
the gage site.

The National Weather Service in Springfield has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Shannon County in south central Missouri...
Howell County in south central Missouri...
Oregon County in south central Missouri...

* until 1000 PM CDT Sunday

* at 1139 am CDT, the Department of Transportation reported flash
flooding across the warned area. Many low water crossings remain
in flood with rising waters continuing along rivers and streams.
Doppler radar indicated between three and nine inches of rainfall
occurred with this storm system.

* Creeks, streams, and low water crossings will be especially
susceptible to the dangers of flash flooding.

This warning includes but is not limited to the following low water
crossings...
Route h, 3 miles east of Winona...
Highway 142 at the Spring River west of Lanton...
Highway 142 at the Bennetts River West of Moody...
Route k, 3 miles southwest of Pottersville...
and Route h at Rocky Creek 6 miles northeast of Winona.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
