The Flood Warning continues for
the Platte River near agency.
* Until late Monday night.
* At 9:30 PM Thursday the stage was 23.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 25.5 feet by
Saturday evening. The river will fall below flood stage early
Monday morning.
* At 25.0 feet... flooding begins at the east border of agency.
* At 20.0 feet... low-lying areas east of agency begin to flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Missouri River at Atchison.
* Until Sunday June 02.
* At 10:02 PM Thursday the stage was 22.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 22.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 25.2 feet by
Sunday morning. The river will fall below flood stage Saturday
before midnight.
* At 25.0 feet... a castings plant in Atchison is affected by flood
waters.
* At 22.0 feet... low-lying areas on the Missouri side of the river
begin to flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Missouri River at St Joseph.
* Until further notice.
* At 9:30 PM Thursday the stage was 20.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 23.0 feet by
Saturday evening then begin falling.
* At 21.0 feet... Riverfront Park in St. Joseph begins to flood.
* At 19.0 feet... backwater from the Missouri River floods property
along the Nodaway river at Nodaway, Missouri.
* At 17.0 feet... lowland flooding upstream and downstream from St.
Joseph occurs.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from 7 PM CDT this evening through
Friday morning...

The National Weather Service in Kansas City/Pleasant Hill has
issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northeast Kansas and
northwest Missouri, including the following areas, in
northeast Kansas, Atchison KS and Doniphan. In northwest
Missouri, Andrew, Atchison MO, Buchanan, Holt, and Nodaway.

* From 7 PM CDT this evening through Friday morning

* thunderstorms will develop and spread across far northeast KS
and northwest MO tonight through Friday morning. These storms
could produce very heavy rainfall over an area that is already
saturated from recent storms.

* Low-lying and flood-prone areas will be most susceptible to
the dangers of flash flooding. Areas near rivers, creeks, and
streams will likely become flooded during and immediately
after heavy rainfall. Be very careful if driving at night as
flood water are very hard to see.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
