central Bell County in southeastern Kentucky...
Knox County in southeastern Kentucky...
southern Leslie County in southeastern Kentucky...
southeastern McCreary County in south central Kentucky...
southeastern Whitley County in south central Kentucky...
southern Clay County in southeastern Kentucky...

* until 500 PM EDT.

* At 156 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause
urban and small stream flooding. Overflowing poor drainage areas
will result in minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to two
inches of rain have already fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Williamsburg, Barbourville, Pineville, Manchester, Julip, Big Fork,
Sandy Fork, Hoskinston, Brightshade, Swan Lake, Zion Hill and Goose
Rock.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Kentucky, northeast Kentucky, south
central Kentucky, and southeast Kentucky, including the
following areas, in east central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott,
Estill, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery, Powell, and Rowan. In
northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin. In south central
Kentucky, Laurel, Pulaski, and Rockcastle. In southeast
Kentucky, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Jackson, Knott, Lee, Leslie,
Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe.

* Until 10 PM EDT this evening

* persistent rain showers and, at times thunderstorms, will
continue through early this evening. The long duration of
rainfall could lead to localized flash flooding.

* Flooding of creeks and streams, especially in low lying areas,
will be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
