Flood Warning
Issued: 5:17 AM EST Feb. 23, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Ohio River at Cincinnati
* until further notice.
* At 5 am the stage was 56.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 52 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* The river will rise to around 56.5 feet today then it will rise to near
59.4 feet by Tuesday morning. The river will remain above flood stage for the next 5 days.
* At stages near 59.0 feet, much of Route 52 is flooded from Cincinnati
to New Richmond. Significant flooding occurs in California, Ohio,
with several roads, Coney Island, and Riverbend music theater mostly
underwater. Backwater flooding affects many roads in Anderson
township. Several low roads in the east end are also flooded.
Portions of Route 8 in northern Kentucky become flooded, as well as
portions of Lawrenceburg and Aurora, Indiana. Basement flooding of
low lying homes and businesses is widespread.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Ohio River at Meldahl dam
* until further notice.
* At 4 am the stage was 52.8 feet.
* Flood stage is 51 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* The river will fall today into tonight before rising to near
56.5 feet by Tuesday morning. Additional rises may be possible
thereafter.
* At stages near 58.0 feet, much of the Village of Neville floods, with
evacuations of homes and businesses becoming necessary. Significant
backwater flooding occurs along creeks and streams emptying into the
Ohio River. Route 52 becomes flooded in many low areas.

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, including the
following areas, in Indiana, Dearborn, Fayette in, Franklin
in, Ohio, Ripley, Switzerland, Union in, and Wayne. In
Kentucky, Boone, Bracken, Campbell, Carroll, Gallatin, Grant,
Kenton, Lewis, Mason, Owen, Pendleton, and Robertson. In Ohio,
Adams, Brown, Butler, Clark, Clermont, Clinton, Fairfield,
Fayette OH, Franklin OH, Greene, Hamilton, Highland, Hocking,
Licking, Madison, Montgomery, Pickaway, Pike, Preble, Ross,
Scioto, and Warren.

* Through Sunday morning

* multiple rounds of heavy rainfall will move across the region
today through Saturday night. Total rainfall amounts through the
period could be in the 3 to 5 inch range.

* Excessive rainfall will cause local rivers, creeks, and
streams to rise. Those near streams and rivers should be
especially cautious as streams and rivers can rise quickly.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

People in the watch area, especially those living in areas prone
to flooding, should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop. Monitor the latest forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings.
