Flood Warning
Issued: 3:53 AM EST Feb. 22, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Louisville KY has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Green River at Woodbury.
* From this evening until further notice.
* At 3:00 am Thursday the stage was 18.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise
to near 29.8 feet by early Saturday morning.
* Impact... at 30.0 feet... several County roads flood near Woodbury.
* Flood history... this crest compares to a previous crest of 29.3
feet on Dec 13 2007.

Areal Flood Watch

... Flood Watch remains in effect through Sunday morning...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of southern Indiana and central Kentucky

* through Sunday morning

* moderate to heavy rainfall is expected across the watch area
early this morning. Additional rounds of showers and
thunderstorms are expected late Thursday night through late
Saturday night. An additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall is
expected through Sunday morning which result in excessive runoff
and flooding.

* This rainfall combined with already saturated soils will lead
to excessive runoff which will cause already swollen rivers to
rise more. Significant and continued rises on the Ohio,
Rolling Fork, Kentucky, and green rivers, as well as other
area streams, are expected throughout the week and into the
weekend. In southern Indiana, the Blue River and muscatatuck
river may see significant rises later this week.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

Monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible warnings. Those
living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take
action should flooding develop or worsen.
