Flood Warning, Flash Flood Warning, Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 9:43 PM EST Feb. 24, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the East Fork White River at Shoals.
* From Sunday morning to Tuesday March 06.
* At 8:30 PM Saturday the stage was 15.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tomorrow late morning and
continue to rise to near 26.0 feet by Friday morning. The river
will fall below flood stage by Monday afternoon.
* At 26.0 feet... high water affects low residential areas on left bank
at Shoals. Some evacuations or moving of Mobile homes is
necessary. Local roads flood more extensively. Rural residents
move livestock and equipment to High Ground. State Road 550 floods
on right bank and also between Trinity and Dover Hill.

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 1130 PM EST/1030
PM CST/ for DuBois... northwestern Crawford and Orange counties...

At 839 PM EST/739 PM CST/, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms
producing intense rainfall across DuBois County. This band of
intense rainfall will move eastward across DuBois County and into
northwest Crawford and into southwest Orange County in the next hour.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jasper, Paoli, English, Huntingburg, Ferdinand, Orleans, French Lick,
Orangeville, Holland and West Baden Springs.

Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches will be possible in the
warned area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

northwestern Clark County in south central Indiana...
Crawford County in south central Indiana...
Perry County in south central Indiana...
Orange County in south central Indiana...
Washington County in south central Indiana...
Meade County in central Kentucky...

* until 600 am EST Sunday/500 am CST Sunday/

* at 605 PM EST/505 PM CST/, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that
will cause flooding. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. An
additional steady one to two inches of rain the rest of tonight
likely will cause standing water on area roadways.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jasper, Tell City, Salem, Paoli, Corydon, Brandenburg, English, New
Providence town, Carefree town and Mount Pleasant.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

* through Sunday morning

* 1 to 2 inches of rainfall. Locally higher amounts likely.

* This rainfall on already saturated soils will lead to excessive
runoff which will cause already swollen rivers to rise more.
There will be further rises on most rivers, and flooding for
low-lying, urban, and small stream areas. Places that don't
typically flood may flood.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

Monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible warnings. Those
living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take
action should flooding develop or worsen.
