* Flood Warning for
the Floyd river at Le Mars.
* From this evening to Sunday evening.
* At 07am Thursday the stage was 15.56 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 20.00 feet.
* Forecast... the river will crest near 12.0 feet by 7 PM Friday.
* At stages near 22.0 feet... approximately 1400 acres of farm land
are flooded.

* Flood Warning for
the West Branch Floyd river near Struble.
* Until Saturday morning.
* At 07am Thursday the stage was 14.16 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and record flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.00 feet.
* Forecast... the river will crest near 15.9 feet by 1 PM Thursday.
* At stages near 16.0 feet... County roads begin to flood.

the Floyd river at Merrill.
* From this evening to late Saturday night.
* At 01am Thursday the stage was estimated at 4.40 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.00 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by 5 PM Thursday and crest near
14.4 feet by Friday September 21. The river will fall below flood
stage by Saturday September 22.
* At stages near 14.0 feet... approximately 1600 acres of farm land
are flooded.

* From this afternoon until further notice.
* At 05am Thursday the stage was 16.98 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 20.50 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by 5 PM Thursday and crest
near 27.6 feet by 7 am Sunday.

the Big Sioux River at Akron.
* From late tonight until further notice.
* At 06am Thursday the stage was 10.94 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 16.00 feet.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by 12 am Friday and crest
near 21.3 feet by 1 am Monday.
* At stages near 21.5 feet... Highway 48 near the intersection with
Iowa Highway 12 north of Akron begins to flood.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 PM CDT this
afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of northwest Iowa, southwest Minnesota, and South
Dakota, including the following areas, in northwest Iowa,
Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay IA, Dickinson, Lyon IA, O'Brien,
Osceola, Plymouth, and Sioux. In southwest Minnesota,
Cottonwood, Jackson, Lincoln MN, Lyon MN, Murray, Nobles,
Pipestone, and rock. In South Dakota, Bon Homme, Brookings,
Charles Mix, Clay SD, Davison, Douglas, Hanson, Hutchinson,
Lake, Lincoln SD, McCook, Miner, Minnehaha, Moody, Turner,
Union, and Yankton.

* Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon

* showers and a few thunderstorms will continue this morning. The
general rainfall will be trending downward. However there will
still be isolated to scattered pockets of heavy rain under the
heavier cells which will produce thunderstorms. Therefore
isolated areas could receive a quick one inch of rain in a brief
amount of time, on top of already saturated ground.

* Reports of County and township roads, and even some state
highways underwater are coming in for locations south of
Interstate 90. Heavy rains can lead to flash flooding, with
water covered roads and urban flooding possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
