The Flood Warning continues for
the East Fork Des Moines River near Algona, or from Buffalo Creek
near Burt... to Lotts Creek near Livermore.
* Until late Wednesday evening.
* At 4:15 am Friday the stage was 16.5 feet, or 0.5 feet below flood
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* No flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise to flood stage this morning. Continue rising to
18.4 feet, or 1.4 feet above flood stage, Sunday afternoon. Then
begin falling and go below flood stage late Wednesday evening.
* Impact... at 18.0 feet, US 169 is threatened near Saint Joseph and
may be overtopped south of Algona.

* until 845 am CDT Friday.

* At 848 am CDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms with
heavy rain across much of north-central Iowa. The heavy rain will
cause overland flooding and local rises in creeks and streams. Up
to five inches of rain have already fallen over the last 24 hours
with more rain expected... especially later this afternoon and

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Mason City, Algona, Forest City, Emmetsburg, Garner, Britt, Manly,
Swan Lake, Five Island Lake, Ingham Lake, Union slogh, High Lake,
Clear Lake, Lost Island Lake, Eagle Lake, Mason City Municipal
Airport, Silver Lake, Rush Lake, Graettinger and West Bend.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
