High Surf Advisory
Issued: 11:03 PM HST Jan. 21, 2018 – National Weather Service

... High surf advisory remains in effect until 6 PM HST Tuesday for
east facing shores...

... High surf advisory now in effect from 6 am Monday to 6 PM HST
Tuesday for north facing shores...

* surf... along east facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, and
Maui, 5 to 8 feet. Along north facing shores of Kauai, Oahu,
Molokai and Maui, rising to 12 to 16 feet through the day
Monday.

* Timing... through Tuesday for east facing shores. For north
facing shores, surf will rise through the day Monday as a west-
northwest swell builds down the island chain. Surf will hold at
advisory levels Tuesday for north facing shores, then trend
down into midweek.

* Impacts... moderate... expect strong breaking waves, shore
break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming
difficult and dangerous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Always heed advice given by ocean safety officials and know your
limits. When in doubt, do not go out.
