... Excessive heat watch in effect from Tuesday afternoon through
Thursday evening...

The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued an excessive
heat watch, which is in effect from Tuesday afternoon through
Thursday evening.

* Timing... Tuesday afternoon through Thursday evening. At this
time, the highest temperatures expected will be on Tuesday and

* Temperature... high temperatures will range from 103 to 108. Low
temperatures in the lower 70s to low 80s.

* Impacts... heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and
heat stroke will be possible. People most vulnerable include
those who are spending lots of time outdoors... those who do
not have air conditioning... Young children... the elderly... and
those with chronic ailments.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot
temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and
high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in
which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of fluids, stay
in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on
relatives and neighbors.
