The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Gila County in east central Arizona...
Coconino County in north central Arizona...

* until 400 PM MST

* at 100 PM MST, National weather Doppler radar indicated heavy rain
had moved across the Highline fire scar, above Ellison creek. Rain
gauges on the Highline fire scar are showing 1.4 inches of rain in
the last hour. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Ellison creek and the water wheel swimming area.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry washes is likely. The heavy rains will
likely trigger Rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and downstream of areas recently scarred by
fire.

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* small stream flood advisory for...
Apache County in northeastern Arizona...
Navajo County in north central Arizona...

* until 430 PM MST

* at 130 PM MST, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a
large area of heavy precipitation producing thunderstorms in east-
central Arizona. These storms are producing 1-2 inches of rainfall
per hour and will cause multiple areas of minor flooding.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
St. Johns, cornfields chapter house, Hunt, Burnside, Klagetoh, Pine
Springs, Window Rock, Hubbell Trading Post National Historic Site,
Wide Ruins, Steamboat Canyon, Petrified Forest National Park,
Chambers, Lyman Lake State Park, Greasewood Springs, Nazlini,
Sanders, Concho, Sunrise Springs, Steamboat and Kinlichee chapter
house.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually deeper
than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough
to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded roads, make
the smart choice: turn around, don't drown.

through this evening...

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of north central Arizona and
northeast Arizona, including the following areas, Coconino
Plateau, Grand Canyon country, Kaibab Plateau, Little Colorado
River valley in Coconino County, Marble and Glen canyons, Black
Mesa area, Chinle Valley, Chuska Mountains and Defiance Plateau,
northeast plateaus and mesas.

* From 11 am MST this morning through this evening

* abundant monsoon moisture is expected to produce thunderstorms
capable of producing heavy rainfall, mainly this afternoon and
evening. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches in a short period of
time are possible with the stronger storms.

* Areas of particular concern include the Grand Canyon, Havasu
Canyon and Supai, Antelope Canyon and other slot canyons. Low
water crossings in the watch area will also be susceptible to
flooding today.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that developing conditions may lead to
flash flooding within the watch area. People... especially those
located along area creeks... rivers or other flash flood prone
areas... should continue to monitor later forecasts and be prepared
to take immediate action should flash flood warnings be issued.
