Winter Weather Advisory
Issued: 3:28 PM AKDT Oct. 20, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 PM akdt
Saturday...

* what... snow and blowing snow expected. In addition, areas of
poor visibility are expected. Additional snow accumulations of
2 to 5 inches, with localized amounts up to 8 inches, are
expected.

* Where... St Lawrence Island and Bering Strait coast.

* When... until 10 PM Saturday with strongest winds and heaviest
snow occurring tonight through tomorrow afternoon.

* Additional details... north winds gusting as high as 45 mph
will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow. Winds may cause
freezing spray from the ocean to accumulate ice on structures
close to shore on Saint Lawrence Island.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow means periods
of snow and blowing snow will cause primarily travel
difficulties.


High Surf Advisory

... High surf advisory remains in effect until 6 am akdt Sunday...

* location... Savoonga and Diomede.

* Waves... will cause high surf through early Sunday.

* Winds... north 35 to 45 mph.

* Timing... winds and surf will persist through Saturday night.
Winds and surf will die down early Sunday morning.

* Impacts... surf will wash to the top of the beach and beach
erosion will occur.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that localized beach erosion is
expected. Precautions should be taken to protect property.
